many points south and east of the old continent. Last year I chaired
a blue-ribbon committee of British parliamentarians, including former
ministers and a party leader, that examined the problem of
anti-Semitism
in Britain. None of us are Jewish or active in the unending debates
on the Israeli-Palestinian question.

The nature and
extent of Palestinian terrorism in 2006
The Intelligence
and Terrorism Information Centre has released a report analysing
the character of Palestinian terrorism directed against Israel in 2006.
As the report finds,
the number of various Palestinian terrorist organisation attacks
continued to decline last year - with the exception of rocket fire.
The decrease in the
number of terrorist attacks has progressively declined since the
2001 peak. A total of 2,135 attacks were carried out in 2006, compared
with 2,365 in 2005.
