Have
you heard….what happened next?
(see
also previous Have you heard..Thought
for the Day)
Having
wished that they could have experienced one of those “breakdowns
in the broadcast” that they used to be famous for, the BBC
half-heartedly, if it could even be so described, “apologised”
for the errors and for the offence that it caused by their “Thought
for the Day” broadcast of Feb 10.
Their
“apology” was not, apparently, for broadcasting what
was an obvious concoction of lies or for libelling Israel and her
citizens, but, seemingly, for being caught out in their stupidity.
That
is not acceptable and they have been told so, but have yet to respond.
John
Bell, rather than openly and honestly admitting his naivety and
the clear fraudulence of his story, repeats it, and adds quotes
from a Catholic missionary group and Desmond Tutu, in an attempt
to give his explanation credence.
Has
either the BBC or Bell succeeded? Here are what others in the public
and media think:
“This
is the type of blood libel that we Israelis, we Jews, have suffered
for years by the western media and broadcasting networks”.
B.S.
Israel.
“The
story was completely false from start to finish. But worst of all
is the vile calumny that Israel orders its troops to shoot unarmed
children and jails those who refuse, broadcast as fact by the BBC
on the back of no evidence whatsoever.
They
believe it is true, because they want it to be true”.
Bill
Carmichael, Yorkshire Post.
“A
totally unsubstantiated smear. The BBC did not apologise for the
libel about the IDF”.
Melanie
Philips.
