British Bigots Boycott Israel

Stop the Boycott

We condemn the recent decision of the University and Colleges Union (UCU) Congress to promote a boycott of Israeli universities as the action of a small and unrepresentative minority that flies in the face of academic freedom. We therefore call on Sally Hunt, General Secretary UCU, to honour her pledge to ballot all of the UCU's 120,000 members so that the true voice of British academia can be heard.

Political Antisemitism

Irwin Cotler, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, wrote:

"Traditional anti-Semitism was the denial of the right of individual Jews to live as equal members in a society. The new anti-Jewishness is the denial of the right of Jewish people to live as equal members in the family of nations. . . . All that has happened is that we've moved from discrimination against the Jews as individuals to the discrimination against the Jews as a people. "

The main engine of the British boycott campaign is the Socialist Workers Party, which has a disproportionate number of anti-Zionist Jews among its upper ranks.

Israeli boycotts show Britain's academic elite has taken leave of its senses
Melanie Phillips, Daily Mail

Anyone not yet convinced that Britain has somehow turned against its own most fundamental values, not to say departed altogether from reality, should look at the decision by the University and College Union (UCU) to urge a boycott of academic institutions in Israel.

This deplorable move destroys the most sacred role of a university - to act as the guardian of free speech and inquiry in order that knowledge, opinion and truth can flourish and grow.

[ Editor's note: Let me try to understand the NATFHE decision to advise boycotting Israeli academics on grounds of conscience. Palestinian terrorists murder university students at an Israeli university(see below) and four years later NATFHE want to boycott Israeli academics. A Homer Simpson moment if ever there was one. I would call it "Stinkin' thinkin' ! A disease that afflicts many bigoted anti-Israel activists. They hate Israel and Jews more than they care for the humanity of Palestinians.]

Terrorist bombing at Hebrew University cafeteria July 31, 2002

Nine people - four Israelis and five foreign nationals - were killed and 85 injured, 14 of them seriously, when a bomb exploded in the crowded Frank Sinatra cafeteria on the Hebrew University Mt. Scopus campus shortly after 13:30. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.

An academic boycott of Israel would lead to lives being lost: Baroness Greenfield, "Israeli scientific achievements are absolutely mindboggling," Israeli DoctorsIsraeli doctors have to fend off mindless attacks from their scientific colleagues, particularly in Europe.

Have You Heard...
Reported recently in the Jewish Telegraph, Israeli press and by the Palestinian propaganda machine, Exeter University professor, Richard Seaford, no doubt prompted by anti-Israel extremists in the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education (NATFHE), has refused to review a book written by a classics professor at Israel’s Bar Ilan University, citing as his reason for the snub to Professor David Schaps and his book The Invention of Coinage and the Monetization of Ancient Greece:
